It can be very intimidating to visit a new church for the first time. To reduce any anxiety, here are some things to expect when you come to Sojourners Community Church.
Dress Code:
You'll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from "office casual" to shorts and sneakers.
Parking:
Parking for ECCU is behind the auditorium off of Mariner Street. Feel free to park in our Visitor Parking spaces, directly behind the auditorium. Our Campus Map will show you where the parking spots are and how to find the front entrance to the auditorium.
Before we gather:
When you enter the auditorium you will be greeted at the door by members of our Welcome Team who can answer any questions you may have. If you have children, you will find the Kid Station Check-In table directly to your right, where you can sign your child in to attend an age-graded bible study during the service. To learn more about our Children's Ministry, click here. Children are also welcome in the service if you would prefer to keep them with you.
When we gather:
As you enter the auditorium you will be handed a bulletin with information about that morning's service as well as upcoming church events. There are buckets in each row of seats with Information Cards, and we would love for you to fill one out with your information so that we can keep in touch with you and send you any information you may request.
We usually begin our time together in worship. There will then be a message delivered by either our Jason Phillips, or some one from our teaching team (Darren Guerra, Brian White, and Kelly Dagely). Messages usually last about 30 minutes and are based on the bible. You may bring your bible with you to the service, or you can read along as the bible passages are placed up on the screen by the overhead projector.
The Message is followed by more worship and Communion. We invite all committed Christians, or those genuinely seeking a relationship with Jesus Christ to share in Communion with us. If you feel uncomfortable, you are more than welcome to remain in your seat and reflect, pray, or meditate.
Following Communion is when we take up an offering. We want you to feel welcome as our guest, with no pressure to give. At this point, if you have filled out the info card, you can drop it in the bag; otherwise, just hand it in at the Welcome table in the lobby as you leave.
After we gather:
Afterwards, please join us in the lobby for coffee, donuts, and other refreshments. If you have children, you can now pick them up from their classrooms. We hope you will stay for a little bit and meet some new people. One of our LIfe Groups usually hosts a place for lunch on Sundays and this is a great time for you to meet some of the people that are apart of the church. We desire for people to really experience warmth and friendliness at Sojourners Community Church.
Life Groups:
Of course, church is more than just what happens on Sundays. We also have small groups that meet during the week and you can find out more about them in the lobby.
